Chaitra Navratri is a festival of nine days celebrated all over India dedicated to Goddess Durga, the Adi Shakti, the ultimate power of this universe. This festival embodies spiritual awareness, new beginnings, and the start of spring and is thus known as Vasant Navratri as well.

This time signifies the arrival of the Hindu New Year, which falls in the month of Chaitra (between March & April according to the English lunar calendar).

According to mythology, it is said that Goddess Durga had a battle against a demon named Mahishasura for nine days and nights unleashing her nine forms to fight against Mahishasura. Finally after 10 days of battle, Goddess Durga defeated Mahishasura to restore peace. This battle is celebrated as a symbol of triumph of good over evil power.

People worship her and celebrate the power of the divine. They seek her blessings to have a happy and spiritual life.
